STEM Success at Queen Alex – it’s in their Biology!

Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College in North Shields triumphed as one of the top performing A Level providers in North Tyneside with super STEM results: 100% pass rate in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. A staggering 67% of candidates achieved high grades in Biology (A*, A and B) and 75% of candidates were female - highlighting a successful drive to inspire young women to embark upon STEM-related careers.

Biology Olympiad is a Natural Success for A Level student

Queen Alexandra A Level student, Mark Bal, successfully scored silver in the British Biology Olympiad which is a national competition for 16-18 year olds and aims to engage students with an interest in biology by expanding learning of the subject. After winning a Silver Award at the British Biology Olympiad, Mark Bal has since been invited to attend the awards ceremony for the British Biology Olympiad gold, silver and bronze medallists on the 2nd July 2015 at the Royal Institution, London.
