Tyne Metropolitan College Childcare Students Working in the Community with Stephenson Memorial Primary School

As part of their course students studying on the 2 year Diploma in Childcare and Education course at TyneMet College have been given a brief, based on the Forest Schools approach to early years teaching and learning.  Over the coming year students will be designing and delivering environmental activities which will promote primary school children's literacy skills.

Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College Students EU Debate

The European Union and the current Euro crisis was the topic of a recent debate at Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College, where students gathered to listen to two invited speakers, Colin Moran, the Metric Martyr and Gordon Adam a former MEP, came along to put across two very different perspectives.  Colin represented a Euro-sceptic view, whilst Gordon reflected a pro Europe outlook; both speakers were invited through the think tank Civitas.

TyneMet College Staff and Students Raise Money for Children in Need

TyneMet College staff and students raised over £700 for this year's Children in Need appeal.

Beauty, Sport and Queen Alexandra students worked alongside with TyneMet's Student Council to arrange a variety of activities to raise this staggering amount.  The activities on offer included; leg and eyebrow waxing, nail art, face painting, a cake stall, tombola, a Wii Tournament and a sponsored 5 mile walk from Whitley Bay to the College by the Beauty students.

Tyne Metropolitan College Goes Green for the Diamond Jubilee

To celebrate the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth ll's historic 2012 Diamond Jubilee, TyneMet College is supporting the Woodland Trust in helping millions of people across the UK to come together to plant 6 million trees.  The Jubilee Woods project has The Queen's support - and HRH The Princess Royal as patron.  It will commemorate the 2012 Diamond Jubilee, marking Queen Elizabeth's 60th year as monarch. The Woodland Trust is the UK's leading woodland conservation charity with 300,000 members and supporters.
