Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College Freshers' Day

On Friday 9th September, Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College opened its doors to welcome new and returning students to celebrate Freshers' Day.

A multitude of students attended the Fair, receiving their College goody bags and were given information, guidance and freebies from the many stall holders.

Delicious 'Fair Trade' biscuits, chocolate and cookies were on offer from the Co-op.

A LEVEL RESULTS AND BIRTHDAY SURPRISES

Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College in North Tyneside has today expressed their delight with an "incredibly strong" A-level pass-rate.

North Shields-based Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College head Denise Bolton spoke out after the initial analysis of results showed that her students had achieved very good pass rates.

"Having seen the raw data we are looking at an overall pass-rate which is incredibly strong and shows that the philosophy behind having a specialist A-level centre works," Mrs Bolton said.

COLLEGE EARMARKS CASH AFTER GOVERNMENT BLOW

Caring college bosses have acted swiftly to fill the gap left by the government's controversial decision to scrap key student funding.

Hundreds of teenagers faced being forced to shelve their studies following changes to the Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA). But Wallsend's TyneMet College and North Shields-based Queen Alexandra Sixth Form College have new funding to support students.

Their groundbreaking Maintenance Allowance scheme means full-time students who meet the eligibility criteria could receive as much as £1,200 annually to support their learning.
